Dr. David Hannula
Dr. David Hannula is a graduate of the University of Southern California and the University of Washington School of Dentistry. Practicing on 6th Avenue for the past 33 years, Dave has recently expanded his building to offer more hours and the benefits of an associate, Dr. Jenne Stabbert. As a native of Tacoma, Dave grew up with a love for swimming and competing and continues to enjoy swimming as exercise. Relaxing for Dave includes pickelball matches with friends and fireside evenings with his family. Dave has been married to Kathy for 32 years and has four daughters and four grand children.
"I love what I do. Its not just a job but it is what I feel I was called to do. Caring for someone with a painful tooth, educating them on preventative dentistry, or restoring a beautiful smile is extremely rewarding. Also seeing someone who was very apprehensive about seeing a dentist now much more calm and relaxed is what it is all about.
My goal is to give patients what I would want; quality, gentle dental care where they have options to make decisions about their treatment without feeling pressured."
Dave is a member of the American Dental Association, the Washington State Dental Association and the Pierce County Dental Society.
Dr. Jenne Stabbert
Dr. Jenne Stabbert joined 6th Avenue Dental Care in 2009. She grew up in Olympia and then attended Pacific Lutheran University where she played Lute volleyball. Initially planning to teach, Jenne later was inspired to pursue a career in dentistry after traveling on a medical mission trip through her local church, to Liberia, West Africa where she witnessed a desperate need for dental care. She observed similar need at a local Union Gospel Mission that confirmed her career choice. Upon graduating from University of Washington Dental School, Jenne made multiple trips to Mongolia and Guatemala with the Amigo Foundation. However, Jenne never abandoned her goal to teach as she now enjoys instructing children about preventive dentistry and motivating them to take an active role in their oral health. And we must not fail to mention that a favorite part of her job is creating colorful balloon characters for her young patients! (Maybe you can get her to extend the age limit for you).
WIth a similar philosophy to Dr. Hannula, Dr Stabbert thoroughly explains treatment options to patients in order to create a non-threatening environment. This ensures patients can make well-informed decisions without pressure or judgment.
Jenne lives with her husband, James, and their two children in Puyallup. Where Jenne previously spent her leisure time quilting, cooking, gardening, and training for triathlons, she now enjoys nurturing and educating her children through a variety of activities. If you have a fun family idea, Jenne invites you to share with her next time you are in the office!
